Episode 174 Remaking The Slumber Party Massacre (1982)

Welcome to IOTR's month long celebration of the women who scare us to death beginning with The Slumber Party Massacre (1982) which is the first horror franchise to be written and directed entirely by women. Envisioned as a parody of the slasher genre The Slumber Party Massacre may seem derivative on the surface but it's feminist undertones hide a hilarious commentary on the medium. We can't sleep and we're going to come up with some ideas for a modern remake including our own fantasy casting.

Episode 177 Suspiria (1977 Vs. 2018)

Suspiria (1977) is an Italian giallo classic by master of horror Dario Argento. It uses big music, odd angles, elaborate sets, and bright technicolors to create its mood. The 2018 re-imagining by Luca Guadagnina relies more on the performances of his incredible cast and an intricately layered plot for his film. Both movies challenge the senses with their dazzling visual, complex storytelling, and artful direction. Join IOTR as we close out Women in Horror Month with Suspiria!

Episode 178 Remaking Last Action Hero (1993)

Last Action Hero (1993) is a self-aware, meta-action, comedy film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger that challenges the action movie tropes of the late 80's and early 90's.
